The Caring Community of Connecticut, Inc. was established in 1984 and opened its first residential and day programs in 1985. From its inception, the primary focus and mission of the agency has been to support and facilitate individuals with developmental disabilities to be productive and participatory citizens by providing a full range of community based services, most especially for those who have behavioral and social deficits which are not easily accommodated by the general community. |

|
In its operations the agency has two guiding principles:
Individuals shall be encouraged and challenged to attain maximum potential in every possible aspect of their lives.
Individuals must be provided with all guidance and supports necessary to become full participants in the life of their community.
Unlike most agencies The Caring Community employs an in-house clinical team of professionals who personally know and work with each person served. By providing this guidance and oversight the agency has been extremely successful in fulfilling its mission.
